Water level in 20 rivers rises, 91 falls: FFWC

Water levels have shown mixed trends across Bangladesh’s river systems, with increases recorded at 20 stations and declines at 91, according to the latest bulletin from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC). Out of the 116 monitored river stations, five reported stable water levels. Crucially, all major rivers are currently flowing below their respective danger levels, mitigating immediate flood concerns.

The FFWC’s bulletin indicates a continued recession in the water levels of the Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers, a trend projected to persist over the next five days. Similarly, the Ganges River is experiencing a decline in water levels, which is expected to continue for the next two days before stabilizing for an additional three-day period. The Padma River also shows a falling trend, anticipated to continue for the next five days, but is expected to remain safely below the danger threshold.

In the northeastern region, the Surma and Kushiyara rivers are experiencing decreasing water levels. This downward trend is forecast to continue for the next three days, with both rivers anticipated to remain below danger levels.

The FFWC continues to monitor the situation closely, providing regular updates on river conditions across the country.
