Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, announced that electricity from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is projected to be connected to the national grid by December of this year.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, Mr. Bhuyain affirmed, “The electricity generated from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will be possible to supply to the national grid in December this year. The construction of the 2,400 MW nuclear power plant in Rooppur is progressing rapidly.”
Highlighting recent developments within the energy sector, the adviser also confirmed that the government has repealed the Quick Enhancement of Electricity and Energy Supply (Special Provisions) Act 2010. “This move is aimed at ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the power sector,” he added.
