The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) jointly distributed humanitarian assistance to displaced Rohingya individuals in Cox’s Bazar, underscoring China’s sustained support for the forcibly displaced citizens of Myanmar.
Under this Chinese-funded initiative, the BRCS provided essential clothing and textile items to over 5,000 displaced individuals, according to a press release issued by the Chinese Embassy.
The assistance included traditional Bangladeshi garments, scarves, sandals, and sewing machines, intended to address both immediate needs and promote longer-term livelihoods.
The distribution ceremony, held at a Rohingya camp on Tuesday, was attended by Dr. Liu Yuyin, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, and Md. Mijanur Rahman, Director of the BRCS National Headquarters.
Following the distribution, Dr. Liu toured sections of the Rohingya camps and engaged in discussions with Red Crescent officials and camp residents.
He conveyed China’s solidarity with the Rohingya population and reiterated Beijing’s commitment to humanitarian endeavors in Bangladesh.
Officials stated that this project is part of ongoing bilateral cooperation between China and Bangladesh in addressing the Rohingya crisis through the provision of humanitarian aid and development support.
The Chinese Embassy affirmed that China remains engaged in regional and multilateral discussions aimed at achieving a sustainable resolution to the Rohingya crisis.
