Khaleda Zia reaches Feroza residence

Begum Khaleda Zia, the former prime minister and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), arrived at her home in Feroza at approximately 1:25 p.m. today after her plane landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here at 10:43 a.m.

In addition to her personal staff, she was joined by her two daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, when she left London’s Heathrow Airport at approximately 4:35 p.m. Monday (London time) on a special air ambulance provided by Qatar’s Emir.

Khaleda Zia was met at the airport by senior party leaders and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Leaders and activists from different areas of the capital thronged the Airport Road from morning to catch a glimpse of the party chairperson and wish her well as they crowed on the sidewalks at various intersections from the airport to Feroza in Gulshan.

Many stood with flowers, banners and placards and pictures of Khaleda Zia in their hands. The Airport Road and surrounding areas became abuzz with their slogans.

Law enforcement agencies have been deployed on the road to ensure that there is no chaos due to the crowd. Police and members of the chairperson’s security force were on duty there.
