Akbar named captain for Bangladesh Emerging team’ series against South Africa

This month, the South Africa Emerging squad will go to Bangladesh to play two four-day matches and a three-match one-day series against the local team.

The four-day matches will take place in Chattogram and Dhaka, while the one-day matches will take place in Rajshahi.

Akbar Ali, a batsman and wicketkeeper, was selected as the captain of the Bangladesh Emerging squad for the forthcoming home series.

Akbar, who guided Bangladesh to their first ICC Under-19 World Cup victory in 2020, will be in charge of a 15-man team that includes a number of talented domestic players and recent graduates.

The three one-day matches are on May 12, 14 and 16. 

The first four-day event will take place in Chattogram from May 20–23, and the second and final four-day events will take place at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium from May 27–30.

Pritom Kumar, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, Tofael Ahmed Rayhan, Wasi Siddiquee, Rakibul Hasan, Sheikh Parvez Jibon, Maruf Mridha, Ripon Mondol, Asaduzzaman, Mahfijul Islam, Jishan Alam, Rayhan Rafsan Rahman, Ariful Islam, Ahrar Amin, and Mahfijul Islam comprise the Bangladeshi team.

South Africa squad: George Martinius Van Heerden (capt), Mmeeka-Eel Prince, Dian Forreste, Muhammad Manack, Sesona Tsepo Ndwandwa, Nqobani Handsome Mokoena, Onkgomoditse Richard Seletswane, Tshepo Innocent Ntuli, Khandoyehusi Zimine Zuma, Connor Boyd Esterhuizen, Tiaan Michael Van Vuuren, Andlie Oustin Simelane, Andlie Charles Mogakane, Romashan-Soma Pillay, Dewan Marais.
