Deal signed for use of ETC system on Padma Bridge

An agreement to deploy the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system on the Padma Bridge was signed today by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), Pubali Bank, Jamuna Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank, and Nagad.

The principal guest at the agreement signing ceremony was BBA Executive Director and Bridge Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf.

The bridge division’s conference room served as the venue for the signing ceremony.

Rouf said that Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, gave instructions to make public life comfortable.

In line of his instructions, initiatives have been taken to launch ETC to facilitate Padma Bridge crossing in the fastest time, he said.

“With the signing of this deal, the vehicle will be able to move smoothly on the highway and save time,” the secretary stated. According to him, vehicles would also cross bridges like the Padma, Jamuna, and Karnaphuli Tunnels using technology.

The agreement was signed by the following parties: Managing Director Mirza Iliaz Uddin Ahmed on behalf of Jamuna Bank, Senior Executive Vice President Abdullah Al Masud on behalf of Dutch Bangla Bank, Chief Strategy Officer Md Muiz Tasneem on behalf of Nagad, Director and Joint Secretary Khandaker Nurul Haque on behalf of BBA, and Deputy General Manager Md Rabiul Alam on behalf of Pubali Bank.

Senior representatives from the Bridges Division, BBA, and the relevant banks were among those in attendance.
