Sony is considering a spinoff and listing of its semiconductor business as soon as this year, Bloomberg News reported, citing anonymous sources.

The Japanese conglomerate may retain a minority stake in Sony Semiconductor Solutions after the spinoff, Bloomberg reported, reports Reuters.

“The article is based on speculation and there are no such specific plans,” a Sony spokesperson said.

Sony has become an entertainment behemoth in recent years and is spinning off its financial arm.
