The Bangladeshi men’s hockey team’s hopes of making it to the AHF Cup Hockey final were dashed today (Friday) after they lost to Oman 5–4 in an entertaining semifinal at GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The match between Bangladesh and Kazakhstan, which will determine third and fourth place, is now set for Sunday, April 27, at the same location.
During the match, Shohanur scored twice in the 13th and 54th minutes, while Bangladesh’s Ashraful Islam and Obaidul each scored once in the 24th and 38th minutes.
Earlier, Bangladesh finished the Pool B champions with all win records in the tournament.
Bangladesh started the tournament off quickly, defeating host Indonesia by 3-2 goals in their second game and Kyrgyzstan by 5-1 goals in their opening encounter.
Bangladesh maintained their dominance in the competition by defeating Thailand 2-1 in their third game and ultimately winning their group.
The red-and-green boys crushed Sri Lanka by a score of 5-0 goals to end the group round.
The AHF Cup competition will act as a qualifying event for the upcoming Asia Cup.
