Pahela Baishakh celebrated in Brazil

Yesterday, the Bangladesh High Commission in Brasilia celebrated Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year 1432, with a lot of festivities.

To commemorate the day, the Bangladeshi mission was decked out with vibrant balloons, festoons, posters, and flowers. The traditional Bengali folk art known as “Alpana” on the walls and floors gave the event a more intimate feel.

The event was enthusiastically attended by numerous foreign dignitaries and Bangladeshi expatriates in Brazil.

The well-known song “Esho Hey Boisakh, Esho Esho” was sung to start off the Bengali New Year festivities.

Speaking at the programme, Ambassador Sadia Faizunnesa highlighted rich Bengali culture.

She thanked the Bangladeshi expatriates in Brazil for their efforts to showcase Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage on foreign land.

She called on everyone to work together to create a prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh.

Additionally, at the event, the Ambassador read out a statement from Chief Advisor Prof. Muhammad Yunus.

She begged for the martyrs of the July 2024 revolt to be saved and for the wounded victims to recover quickly.

In addition to offering treats like pitha, panta-hilsa, and sweets, the program showcased traditional Bangladeshi attire and handicrafts.

In addition, attendees took part in a variety of games and cultural events, with the Ambassador awarding awards to the victors.
