World Bank announces $12 bn support package for Argentina

On Friday, the World Bank announced a $12 billion package of assistance for Argentina, of which $1.5 billion will be paid out right away to support the nation’s economic reform initiative.

“A strong vote of confidence in the government’s efforts to stabilize and modernize the economy,” the World Bank said in a statement, referring to the action, which follows an IMF-announced $20 billion bailout. The program was intended to help “continue to attract private investment” and further boost job-creation measures.
