UK trade envoy meets commerce adviser

Today, Rt. Hon. the Baroness Rosie Winterton, the UK’s trade envoy to Bangladesh, met with Sk. Bashir Uddin, the Commerce Advisor, at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

They talked on improving trade, business, and investment as well as bilateral interests during the meeting.

According to a news release from the commerce ministry, Bashir stated that the UK is one of Bangladesh’s top export markets and that lowering trade obstacles might increase the volume of bilateral trade.

He urged the UK trade envoy to involve the private sector to further expand the bilateral trade.

According to UK trade ambassador Rosie Winterton, the UK has been helping Bangladesh with a number of changes, including an ongoing economic one.

As part of her assistance for the ministry of commerce, she also indicated her interest in helping to frame trade policies and enhance trade negotiation capacity.

In attendance were Commerce Secretary Mabubur Rahman and British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke.
