Hong Kong stocks plunge more than 3% at open

Shares in Hong Kong and Shanghai tumbled at the open on Wednesday with Donald Trump set to ramp up tariffs on China to more than 100 percent, fanning a trade war that has hammered world markets.

The Hang Seng Index sank 3.14 percent, or 632.76 points, to 19,494.92, while the Shanghai Composite Index shed 1.13 percent, or 35.54 points, to 3,110.01.
