An Israeli strike on south Beirut on Tuesday, according to Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, was a “clear breach” of a truce that essentially put an end to over a year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
Salam denounced the strike as “a clear breach of the arrangements of the cessation of hostilities” and a “flagrant violation of United Nations Resolution 1701,” a Security Council ruling that put an end to the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah and formed the basis of the truce in November, in a statement released by his office.
