17,000 MTs of U.S.-grown food aid arrives to support Rohingya

Important food supplies for Rohingya people arrived in Chattogram this week in the amount of 17,000 metric tons.

According to a press release from the US Embassy here today, the World Food Programme will distribute this food, which is grown by American farmers, as part of the US assistance to over a million Rohingya who are in dire need.

The amount contributed by the United States has stayed constant. “The United States encourages other donors and international partners to step up and provide additional resources to distribute the burden-sharing so that adequate aid is reaching the affected community,” the release continued.
