National Moon Sighting committee meets today

To determine the date of the most important Muslim religious holiday, Eid-ul-Fitr, the National Moon Sighting Committee will meet today.

The Bangladesh Islamic Foundation (BIF) conference room of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will host the gathering at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain, according to a statement issued today.

The meeting will review the information on sighting of the moon of Shawwal Month. 

People have been requested to contact on phone number 02-223381725,02-41050912, 02-41050916 and 02-41050917 and fax number 02-223383397 and 02-9555951, if the moon of holy Shawal month moon is sighted anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh. 

The Islamic Foundation also requested people to inform Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of the concerned district or upazila over the above telephone and fax numbers if they see the moon anywhere in Bangladesh.
