Rizwana invited to join climate dialogue in Nepal

Ghanshyam Bhandari, the ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, visited Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the adviser for the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, at her office today.

According to a news release, the meeting’s main objectives were to combat climate change, promote bilateral cooperation, and strengthen regional environmental cooperation.

The environment adviser was formally invited by Ambassador Bhandari to attend Sagarmatha Sambaad, a global conference on sustainability and climate change that will be held in Nepal in May 2025.

He highlighted Nepal’s preparations for the event and its significance in addressing the urgent challenges facing the mountain ecosystems and global sustainability.

Adviser Rizwana Hasan welcomed the invitation and acknowledged the importance of the summit in shaping regional and global climate policies.

The participation of important Bangladeshi officials and the possibility of a three-nation summit on environmental concerns were also discussed, highlighting the necessity of teamwork in tackling transboundary environmental problems.

Nepal’s dedication to strengthening collaboration with Bangladesh on environmental and climate-related projects was reaffirmed by Ambassador Bhandari.

He promised that Nepal would offer all the assistance required to make it possible for Bangladesh to attend the summit.

In order to discuss climate action, sustainable development, and environmental resilience, the next Sagarmatha Sambaad will bring together world leaders, officials from mountainous countries, and international development partners such as the World Bank and the UN.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing discussion and cooperation on environmental sustainability and climate resilience as the meeting came to a close.
