Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was contacted by Australian Home Minister Tony Burke today by telephone to advise him that Australia would now handle visa applications for citizens of Bangladesh from its High Commission in Dhaka.
According to a press release from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the home adviser informed the council of advisors that the decision will take effect right now.
During his October visit to Bangladesh, Australian Home Minister Burke received the request from Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
In the past, Australia would process Bangladeshi nationals’ visas in New Delhi.
