The United Nations reported Friday that since president Bashar al-Assad was toppled, more than 300,000 refugees have returned to Syria.
A further 900,000 internally displaced persons in Syria have also returned home since the end of November, according to Celine Schmitt of the UN refugee agency UNHCR. “Since December 8… we’ve now crossed the 300,000 returns,” she said.
