NBR launches online import-export hub to streamline international businesses

In order to streamline international commerce, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) today created an online import-export gateway that offers customs and tariff-related information from a single platform.

The chief guest at the launching event was Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), while the special guest was Javed Akhtar, president of the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited and Former President FICCI Rupali Haque Chowdhury, Director of the Fair Electronics Limited Mohammad Mesbaudin, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Hoe Yun Jeong and Chief of Party of the Bangladesh Trade Facilitation Project Michael J. Parr spoke on the occasion.

It was presided over by NBR Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, while Kazi Mostafizur Rahman, an NBR Member (Customs Audit, Modernization, and International Trade), gave the welcome address.

Businesses and individuals can obtain vital trade-related information via the online import-export hub, which is located at hub.bangladeshcustoms.gov.bd. This information includes general information, compliance requirements, documentation specific to a product, tariff rates, duty and tax benefits, an approximate tax calculator, and preferential tax benefits.

In order to expedite consignment clearance at ports, NBR launched this system in conjunction with the Customs Strategic Plan 2024–2028 and the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) module within the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) World.

Ashik Mahmud stated in his address that in order to support investment and business, the revenue system must be automated.
