Govt withdraws police medals of 103 officials

Due to their direct participation in the contentious 10th parliamentary election on December 30, 2018, the government today revoked the President Police Medal (PPM-Service) and the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service) for 103 personnel.

Among the officers whose medals have been revoked are former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Md. Asaduzzaman Mia, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and former DMP commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruk, who was also the DIG of police at the time.

In this regard, the Home Ministry’s Public Security Division released a notification today, which was signed by Senior Secretary Tausif Ahmed.

The money that the police officials got in exchange for the 2018 medals has been demanded to be returned.
