Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today urged the Qatar government to recruit Bangladeshi professionals like doctors, engineers, IT professionals and nurses.
In order to meet the professionals for potential hiring, he asked representatives from Qatar’s relevant authorities to visit Bangladesh.
According to a news release from the Bangladeshi foreign ministry this evening, the foreign adviser made the call during a meeting with Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, the state minister for foreign affairs of Qatar, on the fringes of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) in Muscat.
The foreign adviser also expressed gratitude to the Qatari administration for welcoming a sizable contingent of Bangladeshi expatriates to the country during the meeting.
The foreign adviser also welcomed investment from Qatar while both leaders highlighted the importance of visits from private sectors of Qatar to Bangladesh to identify the sectors for investment.
In addition to the bilateral discussions, the foreign adviser for Bangladesh took part in the final day of the Indian Ocean Conference, which had as its theme “Voyage of New Horizons of Maritime Partnership” and was held in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
On Tuesday, Hossain is expected to go back home.
