Govt changes logo of Department of Prisons

The government has changed the logo of the Department of Prisons in line with its mission and vision.

“The logo for the Department of Prisons has been changed as the earlier one did not match with the vision and mission of the prison authority,” Additional Inspector General of Prisons Col Mohammad Mustafa Kamal told BSS today.

According to him, the boat was replaced in the new emblem with a baton and key, where the key represents the prisoners’ path of light and the baton represents the safety and discipline of the convicts.

According to him, the baton and key in the new logo took the place of the boat in the center, which was replaced by a shapla (water lily) and a jute leaf at the top of the previous one.

“If you look into the logo of the prison authority across the globe, the logo has similarity with their missions and visions. We did the same thing,” he said.

“It is hereby informed for your information that the Ministry of Home Affairs has recently issued instructions to replace the previous logo of the Department of Prisons with a new logo,” the government said in an order directing the adoption of the new emblem for the department.

“Rakhib Nirapad, Dekhabo Alor Parth” (keep safe and show the road of light) is the Department of Prisons’ vision.

Additionally, its mission is to provide safe detention, rigorous prison security, and order among inmates; to treat inmates humanely; to ensure that they have access to adequate housing, food, and medical care; to family, friends, and attorneys; and to provide the necessary training and motivation to rehabilitate society as good citizens.
