With the intention of establishing Bangladesh as its production hub for regional distribution, the Chinese smart gadget company UMIDIGI has formally begun its journey here.
The company has established an assembly plant in Gazipur’s high-tech park with the goal of eventually distributing smartphones to Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.
Masukur Rahman, Sales and Operations Head of UMIDIGI Bangladesh, told BSS that their first goal is to make Bangladesh a regional distribution center for four nations.
“We’re running our operation to the four countries from Bangladesh and planned to send smartphones there from our plant here in the country,” he said.
“In this year, we will concentrate to expand our footprint in Bangladesh market,” he said, adding, “Then our focus will move to the regional market in 2026.”
Over 10,000 smartphones are assembled every day in the UMIDIGI local plant, exceeding the demand for a single brand in the local market.
Masukur Rahman claimed that a local assembly facility produced the four new smartphones—UMIDIGI G9 5G, UMIDIGI G9C, UMIDIGI G9T, and UMIDIGI G9A—that were launched in Bangladesh.
He went on to say that UMIDIGI’s premium, high-spec smartphones at incredible rates will revolutionize the smartphone market.
Additionally, he stated that the company soon intends to open 10 collecting locations and 12 service centers throughout the nation.
UMIDIGI According to officials, Bangladesh is assembling cellphones domestically in order to support the expansion of its manufacturing sector. The business is dedicated to making investments in branding and marketing both offline and online.
The Android 14-powered UMIDIGI G9 5G has a 6.75-inch screen, 12GB of RAM (including 6GB of virtual RAM), and 128GB of storage. Additionally, it has a 5,000mAh battery with 20W rapid charging capability.
Conversely, the UMIDIGI G9C has a 6.75-inch screen, 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM.
According to Zhou, Managing Director of UMIDIGI Bangladesh, further surprises will be revealed during the next Eid-ul-Fitr. At the ceremony, UMIDIGI announced that it will launch two more smartphones before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr: UMIDIGI 100 Note and Note AI.
