The White House’s Spanish-language webpage has been pulled down by President Donald Trump’s administration.
The error notice “page not found” appears beneath an image of the White House on whitehouse.gov/es as of this week.
The “go to home page” button beneath that takes them to whitehouse.gov, where a Trump-starring video montage plays.
Critics criticized the action right away.
“Put this back,” Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer posted on X.
“Deleting this resource makes it harder for fellow Americans to access essential information, and does nada to lower the costs of groceries for Americans,” he said, referencing the wave of inflation that some voters said was their reason for voting for Trump.
The Hispanic Council think tank estimates that 43 million Americans are fluent in Spanish.
The page was shut down during Trump’s immigration crackdown, which primarily targets Spanish-speaking people from nearby nations.
However, the sizable number of Latino voters who contributed to Trump’s election are also kept in the dark by the page’s removal.
