Dhaka renews initiative to explore opportunities in Africa 

By encouraging positive communication and assisting Bangladeshi companies operating in Africa, Dhaka has redoubled its efforts to investigate prospects in that continent.

According to a ministry press statement issued today, the foreign ministry had an interministerial conference on the subject on Wednesday, which was presided over by Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin.

This groundbreaking discussion, the first of its kind, focused on how Bangladesh Missions in Africa can help import agro-products from Africa, notably cotton, by working with the right Ministries and Agencies here.

The meeting also discussed how Bangladeshi embassies in Africa also encouraging Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to expand their presence on the continent.

Discussions centered on addressing challenges faced by Bangladeshi entrepreneurs operating in Africa and exploring actionable solutions. 

The creation of free zones for the importation of agricultural products, the streamlining of the Letter of Credit (LC) procedure, and the investigation of fund support alternatives via Bangladesh Bank were among the main recommendations.

Discussions were attended by representatives of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Cotton Association, Cotton Development Board, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, and the ministries of Commerce, Agriculture, Textiles, and Jute.

Entrepreneurs involved in the production of cotton and lentils in African nations offered their insightful opinions and emphasized the difficulties they face.
