Secretariat building fire brought under control

After almost six hours, a fire that started in the Secretariat’s building number seven was put out this morning.

“The fire was brought under control at 8:05am today after around six hours of frantic efforts,” Md Shajahan Shikder, media officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defense told BSS.

According to him, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Eight fire engines initially began putting out the fire, but eleven more units eventually joined the fight.

Two minutes after the fire started at 1.52 a.m. today, the Fire Service and Civil Defense were on the scene.

According to Shajahan, a truck struck Tejgaon Fire Station Firefighter Sohanur Rahman Nayon as he was trying to put out the fire in front of the Secretariat, killing him.

The Armed Police Battalion (APBN), military personnel, and law enforcement helped the firefighting teams extinguish the fire.

Following the fire, two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were sent to the scene, according to a brief statement from the BGB.
