Libya has stated that it is interested in hiring more skilled laborers and experts from Bangladesh to aid in its growth.
According to press releases from the ministry, the interest was expressed when Libyan Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulmutalib S. M. Suliman paid Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin a courtesy call at the foreign ministry here on Sunday.
Additionally, the ambassador communicated Libya’s plan to boost its imports of Bangladeshi jute and ready-made garments.
In light of the two countries’ upcoming celebration of 50 years of bilateral relations, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering the long-standing cooperation between Bangladesh and Libya during the meeting, with an emphasis on expanding economic connections.
Building people-to-people relationships and encouraging cooperation in the agriculture sector were priorities for the foreign secretary.
To improve economic dealings, he emphasized the necessity of forging closer relations between the two nations’ Chambers of Commerce.
In order to promote improved government-level cooperation, Jashim asked the Libyan side to complete an agreement on visa waivers for holders of official and diplomatic passports.
Ambassador Suliman acknowledged the difficulties posed by illegal migration and discussed Libya’s initiatives to solve the problem by putting in place an electronic registration system.
The Foreign Secretary reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to encouraging regular migration by sending more trained workers and professionals, while also praising the substantial contributions made by Bangladeshi professionals and workers to Libya’s economy.
In order to further develop bilateral cooperation, both parties committed to facilitating high-level visits and accelerating the signature of an MOU to hold bilateral consultations on a variety of topics.
