Bangladesh and Denmark on Tuesday signed a grant-based amendment framework agreement at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
Under the agreement, Denmark will provide 35.00 million Danish Krone (DKK) equivalent to Taka 59 crore approximately, as grant, said an ERD press release here today.
ERD Secretary Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky and Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy Christian Brix Moller, Dhaka signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
Senior officials of ERD and Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka were present at the programme.
In the changing scenario of Bangladesh, Denmark expands the assistance for interventions in human rights, democracy and good governance aligned with the reform agenda of the country, the release said.
Bangladesh and Denmark have 52 years long history of bilateral cooperation. During this period, Denmark has been supporting Bangladesh in the areas of agriculture, water and sanitation, transport sectors, climate change, human rights and good governance programme.
Denmark is also involved in commercial activities through the Trade Council, the release added.
