Bangladesh military personnel receive medals joining British King’s coronation

Medals were awarded to Bangladeshi military personnel today for their involvement in the British King and Queen’s coronation.

According to a press release from the British High Commission, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke held a ceremony at her home to award the King Charles III Coronation Medal to 11 members of the Bangladeshi military who took part in the historic Coronation events, which included Westminster Abbey in Britain, last year.

The Coronation, which took place on May 6, 2023, is commemorated by the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The Coronation Procession, which featured some 6,000 military personnel from across the United Kingdom, Realms, Commonwealth and British Overseas Territories, was a spectacular display of ceremonial excellence by the combined Armed Forces, showing them all in their very best light and on the global stage, said the release.

“I’m proud that members of the UK Armed Forces marched alongside counterparts from Bangladesh and other Commonwealth member states during this historic event,” said Cooke at the ceremony.

The ceremony was also attended by the Armed Forces Division’s Principal Staff Officer, representatives from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as the medal recipients’ families.

The recipients of the medal include Lieutenant Colonel Sadat Mohammad Hasan from the Army, Lieutenant Anik Barua Anu from the Navy, and Squadron Leader Md Shaiful Islam from the Air Force.
