Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy 61st death anniversary today

Today will mark the 61st anniversary of the passing of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, a champion of democracy and one of the greatest leaders of the undivided India.

On December 5, 1963, the unmatched leader of Indian politics, who had devoted his life to ensuring the welfare of the populace by preserving democracy, passed away in a hotel in Beirut, Lebanon.

When he passed away, he was alone himself in the hotel suite.

He was born on September 8, 1892, in Medinipur, West Bengal, India, into a well-respected Muslim family.

During the early half of the 20th century, Suhrawardy was a statesman and politician from Bengal.

He was Pakistan’s fifth prime minister and the premier of Bengal in British India.

In separate statements today commemorating the anniversary of Suhrawardy’s passing, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus paid heartfelt homage to his memory.
