Chief Adviser’s Press Wing Facts reports that there have been no arrests or crackdowns on US president-elect Donald Trump’s supporters in Bangladesh.
“Dozens of activists of the Awami League party, whose leadership, officials, and members have been accused of mass murders, corruption, and laundering of tens of billions of dollars, were arrested in the country on Sunday on charges of planning subversive activities in the capital, Dhaka,” the CA press wing said in a post released on its verified Facebook page – Press Wing Facts – on Sunday. A statement to this effect has been released by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and is attached in the comments section. After Sheikh Hasina, the fugitive leader of the AL, allegedly instructed her supporters to carry Donald Trump’s portrait and use it as a shield from arrests, some of these individuals were carrying his pictures.
They admitted to authorities that they didn’t follow US politics and that Hasina had ordered them to carry solely Trump posters.
Since Hasina was overthrown in a popular revolution in August, the press wing said that certain Indian publications had been actively disseminating false information regarding the student-led mass rebellion.
“They have hugely exaggerated the violence against minorities during the post-revolution days. They just repeated the same canards over today’s (Sunday) arrest of the AL supporters,” the post read.
