Saudi Arabia keen to recruit skilled Bangladeshi workforce

Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan, the Saudi ambassador to Bangladesh, stated today that the Kingdom is interested in hiring more highly qualified and experienced Bangladeshi labourers to help with its ambitious Vision 2030 initiatives, such as the “Green Saudi Initiative.”

The ambassador praised the commitment and work ethic of Bangladeshi expats in Saudi Arabia and appreciated their substantial contributions during a meeting with Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin at the foreign ministry.

In addition to the 3 million Bangladeshis currently employed in the Kingdom, he noted that the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka is actively processing a sizable number of visas every day.

The significance of ongoing diplomatic relations between the two countries was underlined by both officials.

They emphasised the value of high-level discussions in promoting collaboration and addressing shared interests, such as those held by the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) on Manpower, the Joint Economic Commission (JEC), and political consultations.

The Foreign Secretary was also briefed by the Saudi Ambassador on important Saudi projects, such as the founding of an Arabic Language Institute in Dhaka and iconic mosques.

In order to speed up these projects, he asked Bangladesh for help.

He also provided updates on Saudi Arabia’s continued investments in Bangladesh’s power, renewable energy, and port logistics industries.

The Foreign Secretary encouraged the investigation of fresh prospects for Saudi investment and reassured the Ambassador of Bangladesh that any lingering difficulties would be resolved.

He promised his utmost assistance in removing any obstacles that would prevent Saudi Arabia from making additional investments.

The Foreign Secretary conveyed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s endeavours to foster peace and stability in the region, specifically its leadership position within the Islamic community.

He reiterated Bangladesh’s steadfast backing of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to promote peace in the region.

Secretary Jashim also called for immediate action towards a two-state solution and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s support for the Palestinian cause.

As the Foreign Secretary gave him an update on Bangladesh’s latest projects, reforms, and advancements under the Interim Government, Ambassador Duhailan congratulated him on taking up his position.

The envoy also highlighted the longstanding ties of fraternity between the two countries and thanked Bangladesh for its ongoing support of Saudi Arabia on international stages, such as the Kingdom’s bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and its involvement in the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
