The “Navy and Air Force Selection Board-2024” was officially launched today at the capital’s Air Force Headquarters by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
According to a news statement from ISPR, eligible officers holding the ranks of Group Captain, Wing Commander, and Squadron Leader in the Bangladesh Air Force and Captain, Commander, and Lieutenant Commander in the Bangladesh Navy would be given consideration for further advancement in this promotion board.
The primary Adviser welcomed everyone to the new Bangladesh brought about by the student-people revolution while serving as the event’s primary guest.
He remembered with deep respect all who were killed in the anti-discrimination student movement in July-August.
He also remembered all of the valiant military personnel who took part in the Great War of Liberation.
According to the chief adviser, the nation will always honour the self-sacrifice of the military martyrs.
He instructed the selection board members to focus on the officers’ general appropriateness for advancement, as well as their professional competence, leadership abilities, discipline standards, honesty, loyalty, and trustworthiness.
He pointed out that officers with integrity, honesty, and other leadership traits should also be promoted.
Also, Prof Yunus directed the selection board to select those who have succeeded in providing competent leadership in various activities of military life for promotion.
Highlighting the contribution of Bangladesh Navy and Air Force, he said the Bangladesh Navy and Air Force stood by the country’s people at the time of crisis.
As a result, Bangladesh Navy and Air Force have once again been recognised as a symbol of trust by the people of the country, Prof Yunus said in his speech.
On his arrival at the venue, Chief Adviser Dr Yunus was welcomed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.
Despite his hectic schedule, they thanked the chief adviser for launching the selection board.
Among those attending the inauguration ceremony were the defence secretary, the principal staff officer of the Armed Forces Division, and the chief adviser’s special assistant on defence and national solidarity development matters.
The Chief Adviser penned his remarks in the visitors’ book and took part in a photo session with the senior officers of the Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy at the conclusion of the ceremony.
He then planted a fruit-bearing tree sapling on the Air Force Headquarters grounds.
