On Wednesday, Donald Trump boasted that he speaks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nearly every day and that their connection is excellent.
Trump has previously cast himself as Israel’s “protector” and said Netanyahu’s government must “finish the problem” in its war against Hamas.
“Bibi called me yesterday, called me the day before,” said the Republican candidate, using Netanyahu’s nickname.
“We have a very good relationship,” Trump said at a campaign rally in the US state of Georgia, adding: “We’re going to work with them very closely.”
Trump has previously stated that he spoke with Netanyahu over the phone on Saturday and that the Israeli leader “wants my view on things.”
According to the White House, US President Joe Biden and Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu last spoke in public on October 17, when the US leader congratulated his Israeli counterpart on the death of Hamas commander Yahya Sinwar.
Netanyahu gave a heartfelt homage to Trump during his visit to the US Congress at the end of July, expressing gratitude for all that he has done for Israel.
