Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is in completely sound health, his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed today. “Last night, we got a huge number of phone calls and they inquired about the health of Prof Yunus. We want to inform you that he (chief adviser) is in completely sound health and well,” he told a press briefing in front of the State Guest House Jamuna here. According to Alam, as part of the government’s continuing engagement, the chief adviser met with a delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today.
According to him, the meeting was attended by Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Mahfuj Alam and Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul.
According to the press secretary, Prof. Yunus held a meeting yesterday and was present at a meeting with the BNP leaders. The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing made a large number of photographs of the meetings he (CA) attended public.
Replying to a question, Alam said the government is holding talks with the political parties and as part of it, the meeting was held at the State Guest House Jamuna here today. In response to another question concerning President Mohammed Shahabuddin’s removal, he stated that the administration has not yet made a decision in this regard and that it has urged those protesting in Bangabhaban’s surrounding villages to disperse.
As Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) assembled a medical team on Tuesday to treat the main adviser, rumours circulated over Prof. Yunus’s sickness.
Later, in a statement, BSMMU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Md. Sayedur Rahman urged everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation about the top adviser’s medical team.
Prof Sayedur said the BSMMU forms such medical teams regularly to provide treatment for the heads of state and government and it is a routine matter (work).
