Israel says strikes Hezbollah intel HQ in Beirut

The Israeli military claimed on Thursday to have struck Hezbollah’s intelligence center in the capital of Lebanon while fighting militants close to the border and bombing their bases across the nation with jets.

Israel declared this week that, following days of intense shelling of Hezbollah-held areas throughout the nation, its forces had begun “ground raids” into portions of southern Lebanon, a stronghold of the terrorist organization.

According to Lebanon’s health ministry, the attack has claimed over 1,000 lives and displaced hundreds of thousands of people from their homes in a nation already engulfed in a political and economic crisis.

Israel, at war in Gaza since Hamas’s October 7 attack, says it shifted its focus to secure its northern border and ensure the safe return of more than 60,000 people displaced by Hezbollah attacks over the past year.

Regarding the Gaza front, the Israeli military reported that three months ago, a strike killed three prominent Hamas figures, among them Rahwi Mushtaha, the commander of the terrorist movement’s government in the Palestinian area devastated by the war.

Israel’s military claimed to have struck “targets belonging to Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Beirut” in Lebanon.

Three airstrikes were reported on Beirut’s southern suburbs by the state-run National News Agency of Lebanon. An AFP source close to Hezbollah said the target was an evacuated building that housed the organization’s media relations office.

Israel told Lebanese people to evacuate more than 20 villages and the city of Nabatiyeh.

“For your own safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately and head north of the Awali River. Save your lives,” army spokesman Avichay Adraee said on X.
