HSIA runway to remain shut for 3 hours each night from Oct 1

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here will temporarily suspend all flight operations from October 1 through October 14 due to a three-hour nightly runway closure for maintenance.

The Instrument Landing System (ILS) Category II will require maintenance work, which is why the airport will be closed every night from 1 am to 4 am. This was reported to the media this evening by Captain Md Kamrul Islam, the Executive Director of Shahjalal Airport Group.

“For this period, from October 1 to 14, all take-offs and landings will be suspended between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM to allow for necessary maintenance,” Islam said.

The maintenance will include work on the runway’s centreline lights, touch-down zone lights, and the installation of stop way lighting systems for Runways 14 and 32.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has already been issued, informing all relevant airlines and organizations.

The airport authority advises all passengers to reconfirm their flight schedules, while airlines have been requested to inform their respective passengers in advance regarding their flights.

For any assistance, passengers can contact the airport call center at 13600, HSIA, executive director said.
