Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus returned home

After spending four days in the United States attending the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and other high-level side engagements, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus came home early this morning.

According to CA Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, “a commercial flight of Qatar Airways carrying the chief adviser and his entourages reached the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here at 3:32 am today.”

The flight had earlier taken off from New York’s JKF International Airport at 9:30 p.m. (NY Time) on Friday.

The main adviser met at a high level with the leaders of 12 countries during his visit of the USA.

He held a bilateral meeting with US President Joseph R Biden on September 24 apart from addressing the UNGA session on Friday (September 27).

Prof Yunus also joined bilateral talks with the United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma and Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof, among others.

During his visit to New York, the chief adviser was visited by a number of prominent figures, including US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, US Secretary of State Filippo Grandi, US Secretary of State Wang Yi, President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga, and USAID Administrator Samantha Power.

In addition, the chief adviser attended a number of high-profile events in New York during the UNGA session.

His arrival in New York for the 79th UNGA session occurred on September 23.
