12 tonnes of Hilsa exported to India through Benapole port

In advance of Durga Puja, the first shipment of 12 tonnes of Padma Hilsa was dispatched to India via Benapole Land Port today.

“After completing customs and port formalities at Benapole today, two trucks carrying 12 tonnes of Padma Hilsa entered Petrapole Land Port in India,” Masudur Rahman, the tax officer for the Benapole cargo section, told BSS.

The Bangladeshi Ministry of Commerce has approved the sale of 3,000 tons of Hilsa fish to India in honor of the approaching Durga Puja.

The regulated export price per kilogram of Hilsa fish is 10 US dollars, or 1,180 Taka (the currency of Bangladesh).

In response to India’s “Special Request,” the commerce ministry of Bangladesh authorized the export of Hilsa to India via 49 agencies before to the Durga Puja celebration.
