Russia says downed over 100 Ukrainian drones

The defense ministry stated on Sunday that Russia shot down 101 Ukrainian drones over its territory over night, causing minimal damage and no injuries at first. The majority of the drones went down.

Russia’s defense ministry posted on Telegram, saying, “One hundred and one Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs were destroyed and intercepted by the air defence systems on duty.”

Over the Bryansk region, fifty-three drones were shot down; the governor reported that no injuries or damage had been reported.

Over Krasnodar, the Crimean peninsula, which borders Ukraine and was taken by Russia in 2014, eighteen people were killed.

Drone debris that fell “caused a fire that spread to explosive objects” in the Tikhoretsky region, according to Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.

He continued on Telegram, “Residents were evacuated, but no casualties were reported.”

Russia has declared that it is shooting down Ukrainian drones nearly every day in retaliation for what Kyiv claims are strikes carried out in retaliation for Russian airstrikes during the war that was initiated in February 2022.
