Stars shine on Emmys red carpet

The biggest names in television shone on the red carpet on Sunday night at the Emmy Awards gala, which returned to its usual September time slot after being postponed to January due to twin strikes in Hollywood the previous year.

Here’s a peek at some of the most popular outfits seen at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater:

Women dressed in red

A timeless look is classic crimson to match the red carpet.

Ready for her close-up, “Shogun” actress Anna Sawai accepted her Emmy for best actress in a drama while wearing a strapless Vera Wang gown that flashed fire engine red and flounced just below the hips.

Nominated for her role as an infamous drug boss in Colombia in “Griselda,” Sofia Vergara looked stunning in a strapless crimson Dolce & Gabbana gown with a plunging neckline and ruched hem.

And Ayo Edibiri, who won an Emmy last year for her performance on “The Bear” and is nominated this Sunday, looked stunning in a high-slit, strapless patterned Bottega Veneta gown in red, black, and yellow.
