Shanto confident of winning Test series in India

Despite the hosts’ unbeatable record at home, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is confident that his team would win a Test series in India for the first time.

against 4,000 days have passed since India’s last home Test series triumph against Pakistan, but Shanto’s confidence was bolstered by the recent series victory.

Despite playing 13 Test matches against India, Bangladesh has never been victorious. They have two draws and eleven losses.

Bangladesh was badly tormented by the Indian pacers on a hot field during their final Test series in India in 2019. They lost both Test matches by an innings difference in less than three days.

With a nearly same appalling record, the Tigers travelled to Pakistan and accomplished a remarkable first in their nation’s cricket history by sweeping the two-match series.

Shanto stated that although the Indian team would be a difficult task, Bangladesh currently possesses all the necessary components, unlike in the past, to break the win jinx against them.

Before the team leaves for Chennai today, Shanto addressed the media at the airport, “We are aware that it is going to be a very challenging series for us.”

“However, following a successful series in Pakistan, the team is beaming with confidence. The team is more confident, and our people think we can defeat India. Every sequence presents a chance. We’re going to play to win both games.”

Shanto says that they must continue the process without considering the undefeated home record of the Indian squad.

“Regardless of how formidable the opponent is. To win a match, the method is most important. We must adhere to our procedure. We will aim to perform to the best of our abilities. If we do our jobs well, good things can happen,” he continued.

The fact that Bangladesh is visiting India and played a Test series just a few days ago, while the Men in Blue played their last Test series in January of this year, will offer them an advantage.

India is expected to have some rust because they last played a Test series a long time ago.
Bangladesh would undoubtedly try to take advantage of this chance.

“We have been performing well recently, but their ranking is far higher than ours. We had a strong series in Pakistan, which gave us confidence,” Shanto remarked.

“Winning a Test requires playing well over the course of five days. We want to perform well for a full five days. On the final day of the session, the outcome can be revealed. We have a chance to win the final session if we play well for five days.”

The first Test will be held in Chennai starting on September 19. In Kanpur, the second Test will begin on September 27. There will be a three-match T20 International series after the two Tests.

India has begun preparing for the Bangladesh series, and their training style has made it quite evident that, following their recent triumph in Test cricket, they are concerned about the Tigers.

When Bangladesh and India played their final Test match at Mirpur last year, Bangladesh pushed India hard. India ultimately prevailed by three wickets, but Bangladesh’s battle showed that they are no longer an easy target in the Test format.
