Prince Harry turns 40, distanced from royals

One of the most well-liked members of the British royal family in the past, Prince Harry is growing more and more cut off from both his own family and the UK public as he approaches his 40th birthday this weekend.

Reaching the landmark on Sunday is the younger son of King Charles III, who is currently residing in California with his American television actress wife Meghan and their two young children.

The three-year-old Princess Lilibet and the five-year-old Prince Archie of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reside in the celebrity community of Montecito, close to Santa Barbara, on the US West Coast.

But Harry is not only separated by geography.

“He is completely isolated. I don’t see him coming back even with a minor role… there’s no sign of an official role for him,” Pauline Maclaran, from Royal Holloway University of London, told AFP.

“They (the public) don’t trust him,” added royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.
