Sakhawat for increasing revenue from river ports

Today, Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, the Shipping Adviser, requested that the government take the initiative to increase revenue from river terminals.

During a visit to the Dhaka Sadarghat lunch terminal, Kheyaghat, and Wiseghat-Simson ghat today, he stated the following.

The adviser was instructed to take the lead in accelerating revenue collection activities in collaboration with the Bangladesh Army and law enforcement agencies.

He also requested that the officials maintain the rate chart of fare, which has been established by the government, in a prominent location at each ghat and point.

Commodore Arif Ahmed Mostafa, the Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), was in attendance.

Sakhawat Hossain conveyed his satisfaction with the river port’s overall operations.
He encouraged all officer-employees of the port to perform their responsibilities with integrity and efficiency.

Additionally, he requested that the BIWTA implement stringent measures to guarantee the safety and security of launch routes and enforce the rigorous application of laws in order to establish discipline in this industry.

Port Officer Kabir Hossain previously provided the adviser with a concise overview of the river port’s numerous functions.
