Public notice to be issued in search of victims of enforced disappearances 

Members of any law enforcement agency in the nation will be required to issue a public notice in order to locate individuals who have been forcibly disappeared.

The decision was made today at the inaugural meeting of the inquiry commission, which was established to locate and identify the forcibly disappeared individuals by members of any law enforcement agency.

The meeting was conducted at the commission’s Gulshan Avenue office, with Chief Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury serving as the chair. All members of the commission were in attendance.

The commission’s activities will be conducted as usual from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, with the exception of public holidays, as determined by the meeting.

The government established the 5-member Inquiry Commission to identify the individuals who have been forcibly disappeared by members of the country’s law enforcement agencies, such as the Bangladesh Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Branch, Intelligence Branch, Ansar Battalion, National Intelligence Agency (NSI), Defense Forces, and the Directorate General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI).
