It’s massive, it’s historic, says Shanto

Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, praised their historic and enormous first-ever Test victory over Pakistan.

Claiming that the triumph was the result of a collaborative effort, he added that they were confident they could make things right this time.

“We won this match. It’s a historic day for us,” Shanto said after the match. “It’s very massive. I think, I think we never went here, but before we start  this series, we believed we can win this time. And then I mean it and  everyone really believed that we can do something special this time and the  way everyone shows their character, really happy with them.”

Tigers had not won in their previous thirteen attempts against Pakistan in the lengthier version format, so this was their first victory. They had previously drawn just one Test and lost twelve, the most of which were by an innings.

Bangladesh lost by an innings margin on their most recent trip of Pakistan, and very few people thought the Tigers would be able to overcome the deficit, particularly given how susceptible they are in Test cricket.

Moreover, the team’s practice session was in jeopardy because of the upheaval around the nation. When the crew arrived in Pakistan, the nation was going through a difficult period due to political upheaval and a major flood that devastated several parts of the nation.

Despite all of those setbacks, the Tigers produced an outstanding effort that made them the first foreign side to defeat Pakistan by ten wickets at home.

After Pakistan declared at 448-6, Bangladesh’s best Test total against the home team was 565 thanks to a brilliant 191 from Mushfiqur Rahim. Pakistan was all out in the second innings after managing just 146 runs with a 117-run deficit, leaving Bangladesh with a mere 30-run mark to win.
