Romania detains Andrew Tate, raids home in new probe

Andrew Tate, a controversial influencer who is now awaiting trial for rape and human trafficking, was apprehended by Romanian authorities on Wednesday after they raided his residence as part of a fresh investigation into child abuse.

According to their spokeswoman, Tate, 37, and his brother Tristan, 36, are being detained “for 24 hours” so they can be questioned by the DIICOT, one of the most well-known influencers in the world for their misogynistic and occasionally violent sayings.

The representative stated that their home was searched earlier on Wednesday as “part of a search related to a new investigation.”

Four search warrants were carried out in and around Bucharest, according to a statement from DIICOT, in relation to “the crimes of forming an organized criminal group, trafficking in minors”, “sexual relations with a minor”, and “money laundering”.

The Tate brothers are already facing accusations that they established an organized crime network in Romania and Britain at the beginning of 2021. They have refuted the accusations.

Prosecutors claim that they established a criminal organization and sexually abused multiple victims alongside two other women. The date of the trial is still pending.

They were taken into custody in Bucharest in 2022 and held there for three months before being released under court supervision as they awaited trial.

In addition, the brothers are accused of tax evasion and are facing accusations of assault and rape in separate proceedings in Britain.

Tate made an appearance on the British reality television program “Big Brother” in 2016, but he was taken off after it was revealed that he had attacked a woman in a video.

He subsequently started using social media sites to spread his polarizing opinions.

His videos, which share provocative opinions and offer advice on how to succeed, have made him one of the most well-known influencers in the world.
