After defeating the Perth Scorchers by three wickets in an exciting match held in Darwin today, the Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team confirmed their place in the Top End T20 series semifinal.
With six points from six games, HP moved up to third place in the standings thanks to the win.
The HP bowlers performed brilliantly to assist the side improve its position in their important match. The HP won the toss and elected to bat first, limiting Perth to a pitiful 129-5.
However, Perth prevented HP from making it an easy task as they battled neck and neck till the Bangladeshi team exceeded the target with 130-7 in 19.3 overs.
Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, batting at number eight, was instrumental in the exciting win with a 13-ball, 32-run score. As Bangladesh appeared to be on the verge of defeat after being reduced to 89-6 in 16.1 overs, his knock, which featured two fours and as many sixes, carried the team to victory.
As starter Jishan Alam struck a run-a-ball-26, captain Akbar Ali amassed a team-best 35 off 33 with one four and three sixes as well.
Teague Wyllie, the Perth starter, scored a team-high 56 points, while Baxter Holt contributed 34.
For Bangladesh HP, Ripon Mondol and Rakibul Hasan both claimed two wickets.
