Murder case filed against Hasina, 100 others in Bogura

Awami League (AL) president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as well as former minister Obaidul Quader, are among the 101 people accused of murder in this case. The teacher’s death occurred during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Today (Friday), Sekandar Ali, the father of the dead Selim Hossain (35), filed a case with the Bogura Sadar Police station. Palikanda is a village in Pirob union under Sibganj upazila in the Bogura district.

The case mentioned that the murder took place at the order of Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader and other accused in the case who include two former Awami League lawmakers, five upazila chairmen, two mayors, eight councilors of Bogura municipality, 10 union parishad chairmen and 25 representatives.

Apart from this, the case also included 350 more unidentified persons.

The other accused of the cases are president of Bogura district Awami League (AL) and former lawmaker of Bogura-5 constituency Majibur Rahman, district AL general secretary and former lawmaker of Bogura-6 constituency Ragibul Ahsan, district AL vice president T Zaman Niketa, joint secretaries Manjurul Alam, Sagar Kumar Roy, AKM Asadur Rahman, organizing secretary Shahadat Alam, Bogura City AL president Rafi Newaz Khan, general secretary Obaidul Hasan, Bogura district Jubo League president Subashish Poddar, general secretary Aminul Islam, Bogura district Swechasebak League president Sajedur Rahman, general secretary Julfiqar Rahman, district Chattra League president Swajib Saha, general secretary Al Mahidul Islam, two former district Chattra League president Al Raji Jewel and Naimur Razzaque, two former general secretaries Mashrafi Hero and Ashim Kumar Roy, former city AL’s organizing secretary Abdul Mannan Akand, Bogura Chembers of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) president district AL’s treasurer Masudur Rahman, BCCI’s vice president and Sadar upazila AL’s general secretary Mafuzul Islam and Sadar Upazila AL’s president Abu Sufiyan.

Seven AL leaders, including two former MPs, attacked the demonstrators on August 4 at around 3 p.m. on the Satmatha road in Bogura city, according to the case’s first information report. Attackers used gasoline bombs and cocktail sticks, injuring an assistant teacher at Moon Light High School in Kahalu Upazila.

Subsequently, the assailants killed him with sharp weapons as well.
