New gas reserve found in Noakhali 

In a well near Ambarnagar union of Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali, the Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX) has found gas at four levels.

Drilling began at Wasekpur village, under Ambarnagar union of Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali. At 3,113 meters below the surface, the BAPEX discovered a natural gas deposit.

The Begumganj-4 (West) valuation well’s driller, Md. Asaduzzaman, confirmed the information to the media today.

He added that the well’s drilling was finished ahead of schedule, having been formally started on April 29.

He said that in order to ascertain the extractable gas reserve, every stratum in the well will now be tested.

Initially, BAPEX aimed to harvest 10 million cubic feet of gas per day from each of the four zones and supply it through Bakhrabad to the national grid.
